Adjusting Settings Through Control Panel | Selecting Sound Sentry Settings

 

SoundSentry allows you to change settings to generate visual warnings, such as a blinking title bar or a flashing border, whenever your computer generates a sound. You can choose visual warnings for sounds made by windowed programs and for sounds made by full-screen text programs. Use this Step by Step Guide to adjust SoundSentry settings.

On the Start menu, point to Settings.

n         Select Control Panel.

n         Display the Start menu by pressing CTRL+ESC (or the Windows logo key):

n         Move to Settings by pressing S.

n         Select Control Panel by pressing C.

In Control Panel:

n         Double-click Accessibility Options.

In Control Panel:

n         Select the Accessibility Options icon by using the arrow keys.

n         Press ENTER.

Note  If all of the Control Panel icons are not displayed, press the TAB key until view all Control Panel options is selected, and then press ENTER.

In the Accessibility Properties dialog box:

n         Select the Sound tab.

In the Accessibility Properties dialog box:

n         Select the Sound tab by pressing CTRL+TAB.

On the Sound tab:

n         Select the Use SoundSentry check box.

n         Select Settings.

On the Sound tab:

n         Select the Use SoundSentry check box by pressing ALT+S.

n         Select Settings by pressing E.

In the Settings for SoundSentry dialog box:

n         Select the visual warning you want.

n         Select OK twice to close the dialog boxes.

In the Settings for SoundSentry dialog box:

n         Select the visual warning you want by using the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW key.

n         Press ENTER twice to close the dialog boxes.

To close Control Panel, on the File menu:

n         Select Close.

To close Control Panel:

n         Press ALT+F, C.
